Principal's Message

I am very excited to serve the Auburn School Department and the families of Sherwood Heights School this year.

I grew up in Calais, Maine and earned my bachelor’s degrees from the University of Southern Maine. This is  my 37th year employed as an educator. I was a classroom teacher for 20 years, working in both Maine and South Carolina. In 2003, I earned a Master of Education in educational administration from the University of South Carolina, and in 2005, I accepted a position as assistant principal for instruction at Pelion Elementary School, a Pre-K-4 elementary school in Lexington School District One serving Lexington County in South Carolina. After 6 years in this position, I decided it was time to come home to Maine. I was fortunate to be offered the position of principal at Dayton Consolidated School and I worked there for 3 years. In 2014, I became principal of Songo Locks School in Naples, Maine.  I have been principal of Sherwood Heights Schoo since 2019.

My desire is to build a strong partnership with the staff, students, families, and the community to support the learning and growth needed to achieve Vision 2030: “Empowering life-long learners to succeed in an ever-changing world.”

The Sherwood Staff share a vision, mission, and beliefs that support the district vision:

Vision: Soaring together to achieve and reach success.

Mission:

Sherwood Heights’ mission is to welcome all students into a safe , nurturing, and engaging environment where a love of learning is cultivated.  We provide access to a relevant, meaningful education as we establish collaborative partnerships with students, families, and the community.

Beliefs:

We believe it is the responsibility of all stakeholders within the school and the community to work collaboratively to educate each child.

We believe in using multiple modalities to reach and impact all learners with various needs, thereby providing an equal opportunity to learn among all students.

We believe that it is essential to provide uninterrupted time and opportunity for independent practice that is meaningful to each student’s learning journey.

We believe it is critical to nurture a love of learning among all students in a safe and engaging learning environment.

Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] if you have questions or concerns.
